an exciting new summer tradition presented by The Franklin Playhouse!
Each summer, we bring Broadway-style productions to an outdoor stage, creating a one-of-a-kind experience where audiences can enjoy incredible performances surrounded by nature. Whether you’re a lifelong theater fan or discovering the joy of live performance for the first time, TFP Lawnchair Theater offers a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere where you can pack a picnic, bring a blanket or lawn chair, and immerse yourself in the magic of musical theater.
Inspired by a Love for Outdoor Theater
TFP Lawnchair Theater was born from a passion for outdoor performances. After experiencing the joy and community of summer theater in Las Vegas, our founder was inspired to bring a similar, uniquely Nashville tradition to life one that invites performers and audiences to celebrate the arts together under the open sky.
What to Expect
Professional & Community-Led Productions Each season features a lineup of beloved musicals and plays, showcasing local talent, aspiring artists, and professional performers.
A Community Experience TFP Lawnchair Theater isn't just a show-it's an evening to remember! The lawn opens at 5:30pm, so guest are encouraged to arrive early, bring a blankets, or lawn chair, and enjoy a picnic style evening with family and friends. Weather you pack your own meal or grab a bite from available food trucks this relaxed pre-show atmosphere sets the perfect stage for a night of unforgettable entertainment.
Seating & Tickets
Tickets will be required for entry, with flexible seating options to suit every preference:

Front row (Reserved for our VIP Blankets)- No chairs are allowed in the Blanket Section. We will have tarps on the grass for you to put your blanket on top. You may also bring pillows if you would like​

Second Row (General Seating) Guest can bring their own blankets and stadium chairs and regular 4 leg chairs for this sections. ​​​
Reserved seating is marked in the meadow, and tickets are required for these areas. Tickets will be available online and at the venue, but we highly recommend purchasing online in advance to guarantee your spot.
Day of show tickets will be subject to availability and may be priced higher than online presales.
Ticket Check in will start one hour before the show. You will receive your colored wristband once you check in and must wear the bracelet during the duration of the show.

​A Tradition in the Making- As the sun begins to set, the show starts at approximately 7pm,
transforming the outdoor space into a vibrant world of storytelling and music.
Our goal is to build a long standing annual event that Nashville audiences can look forward to every summer!
