The Little Mermaid Auditions (TFP Company Show)
Company Show Eligibility (Required)
This is a TFP Company Show. To audition, performers must have participated in at least one of the following:

A The Franklin Playhouse class or production (past or current), or
-
A Ray of Light Foundation program/performance
Who Can Audition For What:
Adults (Ages 19+)

King Triton

Chef Louis

Flotsam & Jetsam
-
(As needed) featured adult tracks (Pilot / Sailor / Palace feature moments)
Note: Grimsby may be cast as Adult OR Middle School (see below).
High School (Grades 9–12)
High School performers may audition for:

Ariel
-
Prince Eric
-
Sebastian
-
Scuttle
-
Flotsam & Jetsam
-
Ariel’s Sisters (Mersisters) (see note below)
-
Ensemble (Sea Chorus, Gulls, Sailors, Lagoon characters, etc.)
Middle School (Grades 6–8)
Middle School performers may audition for:
-
Grimsby (Middle School OR Adult — character role)
-
Ariel’s Sisters (Mersisters) (we plan to cast at least two Middle School performers as sisters)
-
Featured sea characters in Sebastian numbers
-
Featured palace/ship tracks as needed

Ensemble
Elementary (Grades 2–5)
Elementary performers will be featured primarily in:
-
“Under the Sea” and other Sebastian ensemble numbers as fish/sea creatures/coral/crabs/lobsters/jellyfish/turtles/seahorses
-
“Poor Souls” as souls/spirit characters (there will be lots of “souls” moments featured for elementary performers)
-
Kiss the girl ensemble number as (Frogs, Fish, Birds, Fireflies,Cranes, Ducks and Swans)
Elementary roles focus on movement, stage picture, character, and storytelling (not heavy solo singing or large dialogue scenes).
Special Casting Notes

Ariel’s Sisters (Mersisters): These roles will be cast across age groups to reflect that they are “princesses” of different ages. We intend to cast at least two Middle School performers as Mersisters.

Casting is based on auditions and the needs of the production, but we are intentionally building a cast that gives Elementary / Middle / High School / Adults meaningful opportunities.
We’re so excited to kick off auditions for The Little Mermaid — this is a TFP Company Show.
IMPORTANT (Company Show Eligibility):
To audition, performers must have previously participated in either:

a Franklin Playhouse class or production (past or current), OR
-
a Ray of Light Foundation program/performance.
If you’re new to TFP, we’d love to welcome you through a class/workshop first so you’re eligible for future company auditions.

Video Audition Submission (preferred)
To keep things simple (and avoid file size issues), we accept YouTube UNLISTED links.
How to submit:

Record your audition video

Upload your video audition to your own Google Drive, Dropbox or OneDrive and submit a view only link to thefranklinplayhouse@gmail.com with your link, headshot and resume to

Make sure you list your video with your first and last name and Little Mermaid Audition.
At the start of your video, please include a quick SLATE:

“I have participated in a TFP show/class” OR “I have participated with Ray of Light Foundation”

Role interest (optional)
How Student/Parents do it on Google Drive
1. Upload video to their Google Drive
2. Tap Share or Manage access
3. Under General access, choose anyone with the link set to viewer
4. Copy link and past into your audition form or email with your headshot and resume to The Franklin Playhouse.
(You can do the exact same idea with Dropbox/One Drive: upload share ling anyone with link can view. )
Please test your link by opening it in an incognito/private browser before submitting.
If you have a technical issue only (link not working/upload issue), just email your video.
