Audition Information

AUDITION: Will take place at "The Franklin Playhouse July 14th at 2pm. Audition signup's are required on signup genius. Prepare up to 60 seconds of any song selection that best highlights your vocal range and
abilities utilizing a track. Be ready to give us your track and start time on your device. In addition, there will be a brief choreography combination to be learned and performed. Wear comfortable clothing and appropriate footwear for stage movement (athletic/dance
shoes).

CALLBACKS: A callback will be held on the 17th at 6pm to 9pm at The Franklin Playhouse. A list will be emailed to you with the call back details. Those called-back will be
asked to read further scene selections and sing songs selected from the show. All materials will be
provided.

What To Bring/Prepare

Resume, Desire Role and a list of your conflicts and be ready to let us know if you would accept any role casted. ***Please be aware that we will not accept any conflicts during tech rehearsal dates and will ONLY accept 3 conflict dates. Once you submit conflicts, we will NOT accept last minute conflicts once you accept your role.

CHICAGO: TEEN EDITION CASTING
We are looking to cast 20-30 performers with a flexible and featured ensemble. Those auditioning must be
teenagers, 13 to 19 years of age – no exceptions. Non-traditional and flexible casting will be considered. We
welcome auditions for available roles inclusive of any race, color, ethnicity, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, disability, and/or political affiliation.


CHICAGO: TEEN EDITION AVAILABLE ROLES

Velma Kelly (plays age 25-40, female) A performer who is accused of murdering her sister and husband. Hardened by fame, she cares for no one but herself and her attempt to get away with murder. (Range: Alto, E3-D5)

Roxie Hart (plays age 20-30, female) Reads and keeps up with murder in Chicago, and follows suit by murdering
her lover, Fred Casely. She stops at nothing to render a media storm with one goal: to get away with it. (Range:
Mezzo-Soprano, F3-B4)

Fred Casely (plays age 30-50, male) Roxie’s short-lived lover. Murdered for trying to leave Roxie. (Range:
Ensemble/Flexible)

Sergeant Fogarty (plays 35-55, male) Assigned to Roxie’s case. After asking the right questions, he manages to get Roxie to confess. (Range: Ensemble/flexible)

Amos Hart (plays 30-50, male) Roxie’s faithful husband. He lies for her and takes the blame until he realizes he has been two-timed by Roxie. Still in love with her, or misguided, he believes anything she says in her pursuit to get out of jail (Range: Baritone, C3-F#4)

Liz (plays age 18-45, female) Prisoner at Cook County Jail. She is imprisoned after shooting two warning shots into her husband’s head. (Range: Ensemble/A3-C#5)

Annie (plays age 18-45, female) Prisoner at Cook County Jail. Murders her lover after finding out he has six wives.“One of those Mormons, ya’ know.” (Range: Ensemble/A3-C#5)

June (plays age 18-45, female) Prisoner at Cook County Jail. After her husband accuses her of screwing the
milkman, he mysteriously runs into her knife ten times. (Range: Ensemble/A3-C#5)

Hunyak (plays 25-45, female) Hungarian prisoner at Cook County Jail. The only English she speaks is the phrase,“Not Guilty,” which follows her to her grave. (Range: Non-singing role/may be used in ensemble)
Mona (plays age 18-45, female)

Prisoner at Cook County Jail. Murders her husband after he has a round of affairs
with other women, and an occasional man. I guess you could say it was “artistic differences.” (Range:
Ensemble/A3-C#5)

Martin Harrison (plays age 35-55, male) Ensemble member who doubles as Master of Ceremonies at times.(Range: Ensemble/flexible)

Matron “Mama” Morton (plays age 30-50, female) Leader of the prisoners at Cook County Jail. The total essence of corruption. Accepts bribes for favors from laundry service to making calls to lawyers. (Range: Alto/F#3-Bb4)

Billy Flynn (plays age 35-50, male) Established lawyer who hasn’t lost a woman’s case yet. Master of manipulation who will get a girl off the hook as long as she can fork over the hefty $5,000 fee. (Range: Baritone/Bb2-G4)

Mary Sunshine (plays age 25-55, female) Sob sister reporter from the Evening Star. She believes there is a bit of good in everyone and will believe anything she is fed that matches her beliefs. (Range: Soprano/Bb3-Bb5)

Go-To-Hell-Kitty (plays age 21-40, female) Steals the spotlight when she murders her husband along with three other women. Her crime is labeled “Lake Shore Drive Massacre.” (Range: Ensemble/A3-C#5)

Harry (plays male) Murdered by Go-To-Hell-Kitty for sleeping around with three women behind her back. (Range:Ensemble/Flexible)

Aaron (plays male) Court appointed lawyer for Hunyak. He tries to get her to confess to speed along the trial.

Judge (plays age 40-65, male) Judge overseeing Roxie’s trial. (Range: Ensemble/Flexible)

Court Clerk (plays male) Swears people in on the Bible. (Range: Ensemble/Flexible)

Chicago Teen Edition

In roaring twenties Chicago, chorine Roxie Hart murders a faithless lover and convinces her hapless husband, Amos, to take the rap... until he finds out he's been duped and turns on Roxie. Convicted and sent to death row, Roxie and another "Merry Murderess," Velma Kelly, vie for the spotlight and the headlines, ultimately joining forces in search of the "American Dream": fame, fortune, and acquittal.
